I am getting back into the habit of posting my week’s blessings and successes with CatholicMom.com! It seems like I get too busy to realize the little things that God blesses me with if I don’t STOP and think about them.
We are full swing into crazy land at our house. My oldest daughter Erica has a big part in her school play The Hundred Dresses. I am so proud and excited to see her perform this weekend. Don’t worry, I will most likely photo bomb you next week. 🙂 I’m sure you will feel like you were actually there.
While shoe shopping for Erica’s play costume, I did something out of the ordinary for me. The budget is tight around here adjusting to all the expensive gluten-free food and trying to pay for activities for the kiddos. I saw the most adorable pair of Frozen boots—fuzzy pink furry pom pons and all—and I HAD to get them for my 4-year-old, Maren.
Maren lives in hand-me-downs, from her tops all the way down to her shoes and socks. It was such an impulse buy, but I am so glad I did it! She LOVES her new boots, wearing them constantly, even wanting to sleep in them. So glad I “Let It Go” (ha ha ha) and pampered her a little.
Our family is smack in the middle of Nutcracker rehearsals as well. I grew up dancing many roles in the Nutcracker, so it feels like I am “home” again. Mike and I are adults in the First Act Party Scene, with Joel and Blaise dancing as our children. Kelsey is the real dancer now, and she amazes me with her strength, poise, and grace dancing as a Snowflake and Marzipan. Here are some pics from last Nutcracker. So many wonderful memories!!!
I enjoyed an evening with my 6th grader, Drake, while Kelsey was at dance. We wandered around Wal-Mart, checking out the guns and hunting stuff. Drake is such a fun young man to hang out with!
All of the crazy busyness has left me kinda crabby. This morning, I told God He must think I am such a whiny baby. God laughed at me, reminding me He *wants* to know my struggles. I am a crab because I have forgotten to ask Him to help me through it all.
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Have a blessed week! Don’t forget to tell God your struggles. He already knows them anyway, and He’s just waiting to help lighten the load!
