Small Success Thursday: Whirlwind Edition

Joining in at, one of my favorite places for spiritual inspiration.  Today other bloggers link up to share their blessings for the week.  Mine have been pretty big!

My husband took a much-deserved guy’s weekend with friends.  I held down the fort at home, but managed to over schedule us all.  Not kidding, I loaded up 9 kids in the van 12 times a day.  In and out.  In and out.  The littles did not appreciate it, but the big kids did—I was their personal taxi driver!

By Sunday morning, I was exhausted.  I wrote this Weary Mama’s Morning Offering from the very bottom of my heart.  We all survived, had fun, and were so glad to see Daddy when he got home!

This seemed to be the week of talking to my teens and tweens about the birds and the bees.  Right in time for Natural Family Planning Awareness Week!  I will spare you most of the details, but we are open and honest.  Any question asked will be answered matter-of-factly.  I just want my kids to love their bodies and know what God designed them for!  Amazing, wonderful stuff!

Best of all, I am packing up for vacation!  Mom, Dad, Grandma, and 9 kids all squeezed into a 12 passenger van for 16+ hours.  Sound fun?

We pack super light.  A backpack of vitamins and natural remedies for colds/coughs/earaches, a cooler, a tub of gluten-free dairy-free food, and this:

Yes, I pack like a Hoosier in a laundry basket.  Each kid gets a beach towel to use for a blanket (I can already hear the complaints—“I’m cold.”  “I’m hot.”) and their electronic device of choice.  That’s it.

I ask St. Michael the Archangel to pray for protection of all travelers and for world peace—

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.  Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.  May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.  Amen.

  1. Wow, it has been a whirlwind at your home! I hope you have a wonderful family vacation. My oldest will be 12 this year, and I have five children after her — six in eight years! I am so terrified to have “the” talk with them. But I know it is absolutely essential they hear the right information from us, so with God’s grace I will have courage and the right words, etc!

    • 6 in 8 years is definitely squishing all the fun together! We have 9 in 15 years. Yikes, time flies. Good luck with “the talks” in your future. I take a deep breath and make it up as I go. 🙂
