Small Success Thursday: Lettin’ It Go

Let it go!  Let it go!  lala lala lala la-lala….

I have no idea how I don’t know all the words to “Let it Go.”  I am not kidding, my kids have watched Disney’s Frozen at least once a day since its release.  It’s a really cute movie, and the music is beautiful but annoyingly catchy.  My small successes this week all have to do with me having to “Let It go!”

 1.  My house is a mess.

At any given moment I find the most bizarre combinations of food and trash stuck in the most obscure nooks and crannies of my house.  Ketchup on a hairbrush.   Smooshed up grapes in the baby’s exersaucer.  Rainbow loom bracelets in the toilet.

Why do I want my life to fit neatly into a perfect, clean little box?  I think this is part of why God opened my heart to having a large family—nothing is perfect or clean with nine kids!  Over and over, God keeps reminding me that life isn’t about all the laundry and dishes being done or floors being clean.   I have to “Let It Go” and enjoy my messy life.

2.  Facing my fears.

Recently I wrote about letting go of the fear of developmental delays in my children.  Truly, I am “Letting It Go” and giving my worries to Jesus.

3.  Goodbye winter, hello spring!

Sorry, the cold really DID bother me anyway!  🙂

Here are some pictures of my spring flowers:  hyacinths, crocus, and daffodils.

  1. Good for you! It’s way easier to hang onto worries and frustrations than to let them go. Now, winter, I’m more than happy to release–no prompt needed!

  2. Oh that song – the one that’s starting to make every mother of school-aged children across the country roll their eyes 😉 But really, glad He’s speaking to you, even if through a disney song 😉

  3. I am SO behind on reading and writing, but I had to share this with you. My first confession was this morning, and while I was (freaking out) getting around this song really blessed me:
Lead me to the cross where Your love poured out
Bring me to my knees, Lord, I lay me down
Rid me of myself, I belong to You
Oh, lead me, lead me to the cross

    • 🙂 Amazing. So happy for you! I am doing my best to make my church’s penance service tonight. A few things around my house are falling apart, so it may not happen, but I’m going to try!
